Teaching Philosophy Statement

mid5053

As a teacher, my number one priority is serving as a mentor and role model for young dancers. I focus on not only teaching them new skills, vocabulary, and ballet technique, but also teaching them confidence, poise and attitude. I believe that being a good dancer is just as much about presence and mindset as it is execution of skills. I will do this by keeping the atmosphere fun and encouraging so that they develop confidence along with their skills. I praise them for showing or adding in their personality as they learn. I ask them if they are enjoying themselves and how comfortable they feel with the material as we go along so that they have a say in their learning process as well. I will make sure to build a relationship with each dancer so that they can trust me and feel comfortable in class.
